Founded by Abraham Schweitzer, and family owned and operated since 1932, Gramercy Typewriter Co. has a long tradition of providing New York City with the very best in typewriter sales, along with expert service and repairs.
Paul joined Gramercy Typewriter Co. alongside his father in 1959, right after serving in the U.S. Navy. He has been servicing typewriters since then and has seen his share of changes in the industry—from the standard office machines, to the wide varied selection of portable typewriters, to the electric models, followed by the later electronic machines. Staying true to his trade, Paul is still fixing and servicing the very same makes and models of typewriters he started working on nearly six decades ago.
Justin (Jay) represents the third generation of Gramercy Typewriter Co. Having grown up around typewriters most of his childhood, it seemed natural to join his father in the business—just like Paul did with his father. Jay specializes in the reconditioning of various makes and models of vintage typewriters. Bringing them back to life is what drives him, and being able to learn the trade from Paul has made him an expert in the field of typewriter repair and maintenance.
